Summer Newsletter

June 4, 2010

Dear Parents,

I hope all the students are enjoying their summer vacation. Here is some information on fundraising programs for summer as well as other information.

Read-A-Thon (Fundraising for Tuition and Registration Fee)
I hope everyone got enough sponsors and has started reading books for the Read-A-Thon. If you need more sponsors, contact the following church members: Jon Rimer (581-3094), Mrs. Dupper (226-1319), Amy Indermuehle (225-1159), Skye and Rebecca Trull (308-1842). Please encourage your child(ren) to read a lot during summer. Reading is very important, and it helps them continue to learn. Please make sure to keep track of books and pages your child(ren) read in order for them to collect the money at the end of summer.

Fundraiser – Bithell Farms Frozen Berries and Fruits
We have been doing this frozen berry and fruit fundraising program for the past seven years twice a year (June and February). This is the summer order and the deadline is Wednesday, June 29. The berries and fruit are from Oregon and are very good products. They will be delivered directly to our school either in July or early August. If you are interested in ordering, please send the order form with a check payable to Beebe Christian School or hand it to me at church. Please talk to your relatives and friends about it.

Pre-K Program (Mondays, Wednesday, & Friday)
We will have a Pre-K program a half day three times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday) this coming year. The Pre-K progarm will provide students with the skills and preparation needed for admission to the 2010 kindergarten program. The registration fee is $110 and monthly tuition is $195.

Cash Incentive to Parents
We offer a cash incentive to our current parents for introducing a new student to our school. If a new student, whom you introduce to our school, stays at our school for more than six months, we will give you $75 for each new student. In the past a few of our parents have gotten this cash incentive. If you know of some children who are looking for a fine Christian education, please let them know about our school.

Mrs. Breese’s Summer Schedule
Mrs. Breese will visit her family in Japan (June 6-16) and take a class at Union College in Nebraska (June 21-25). She will be available at home during July. She has a teacher in-service on August 2, and will be at school everyday starting August 3. If you need to contact her during the summer, you can e-mail her or call her home at 498-0565. Her e-mail address is drbreese@earthlink.net.

Yearbook for School Year 2009-2010
Mackenzie’s father, Dwight Laubscher, is working on the yearbook. He needs more pictures. If you have any pictures of school events and activities, please e-mail him your pictures. His e-mail address is dnslaubscher@msn.com.

Practice Addition/Subtraction/the Times Tables and Spelling during Summer!!!
Summer vacation is a long time. If your child(ren) does not do anything, they will forget much of what they have learned. Besides reading, they need to continue working on their math and spelling skills. If your child(ren) is in the first grade, they need to practice addition and subtraction facts, ten combinations, doubles, and doubles plus one. If your child is a third grader or older, they need to practice the times tables. A good website for math, including other subjects, is softschools.com and a good one for spelling, even reading, is spellingcity.com. Please help them practice spelling and reading high frequency words using spellingcity.com during the summer. I am enclosing a list of high frequency words, so just type these words in at spellingcity.com . This website provides fun practice and games, so they can enjoy learning. If they do not practice during the summer, they will forget and have to start all over again in August.

Pre-Registration by Mail (deadline: Tuesday, June 15)
If you would like to pre-register your child(ren), please fill out the application forms along with a check payable to Beebe Christian School and send them to Sam Peterson, School Treasurer. If you pay the registration fee by Tuesday, June 15, you will receive a 5% discount on the registration fee. Your letter must be posted by June 15. The first month’s tuition is due at the time of regular registration.

Regular Registration Days: Thursday, July 29 (3:00 – 6:00 p.m.) and Sunday, August 1 (1:00 – 3:00 p.m.). Registration packets are available at the school.

Work-bee Days: Sunday, August 1 and August 8
We have two work-bee days this summer: Sunday, August 1 and Sunday, August 8 (1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.). We would like you to come help clean our school before school starts. We will clean chairs, desks, cabinets, counters, sinks, walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, the kitchen and the gym. We also need people outside to weed and clean the playground. Please bring cleaning and gardening supplies with you and help our school get in ship shape.

School starts on Wednesday, August 18.
